Most of you know about the hot toys that are selling on eBay; Elmo Live, Wall-E Interactive Robot and Hasbro’s FurReal Dog Biscuit but there are a few hot Christmas items to look for when you are shopping the flea markets and thrift stores.  I have noticed lots of Christmas decorations and ornaments at the thrift stores that I go to.  I always pick up all the Hallmark Keepsake ornaments that I see but I have not found any of the Hallmark ornaments that sell for over $200.

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments

 

Hallmark introduced it’s first collection of Hallmark Keepsake Ornament in 1973 and every year Hallmark introduces new ornaments that are only available during that year. A lot of the Hallmark ornaments have become collectibles and are very valuable. Hallmark’s collection began with 12 yarn figures and six glass ball ornaments, but the longest-running and maybe the most popular keepsake ornament series is Frosty Friends which is now in its 29^th year.

The Frosty Friends, 1980 “A Cool Yule,” the 1^st in the series has sold in the high $300’s on eBay.

 

The Frosty Friends, 1981 - 2^nd in the series has sold for $175.

 

The Rocking Horse, 1981 - 1^st in the series sold for over $200.

 

The Mary Angels (14) series sold for over $200

 

Peanuts Christmas Pageant ornament sold for $199.

 

So the right Hallmark Keepsake Ornament can do very well on eBay.

 

Vintage Aluminum Christmas Trees

 

Did any of you have one of those aluminum Christmas trees when you were growing up? If you did and you still have it, they sell very well on eBay. The one we had was about 4 or 5ft tall and my parents would place the tree on top of a round coffee table in front of the window. At night they would turn the lights out and use the rotating color wheel lamp that illuminated the colors on the tree. Aluminum Christmas trees are selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay. A few years ago I tried to find the tree that my family had but I was unable to. I wanted to sell it on eBay.

Christmas Ornaments

 

Do you remember the Love is… comic strip created by Kim Groves in the late 1960’s. I use to cut the comics out and save them. One of her most famous drawings was “Love Is… being able to say you are sorry,” which was published on February 9, 1972. I didn’t know there were “Kim” Christmas ornaments. Certain “Kim” ornaments sell very well on eBay.
