Where to Find Items to Sell

Start by selling your unwanted items around your house. If your parents or grandparents are downsizing you might be able to find stuff to sell.  Almost everyone has books sitting on a bookshelf that they no longer want; that is the perfect place to start.  You’d be surprised at how much money you can make selling books and unwanted items around the house.

Other places to find stuff to sell:

Deadbeat Bidders or Non-Payer Bidders – Someone who bids on an item and wins the auction

and never pays and you are unsuccessful in contacting them, or someone who bids on an item

and wins and then changes their mind and doesn’t want to pay. Report them as a non-paying

bidder because you will still be charged a final value fee. You should also do the following:

1. Contact the buyer by sending email, you may need to request their contact information from eBay and give them a call.
2. Send a payment reminder.
3. File an unpaid item dispute.
4. Request a Final Value Fee credit. Read more »

1.      Set goals for your eBay business.

2.      If you are selling Brands always use the Brand name in your title and description.

3.      Include something extra with each item that you sell.  For example, if you sell a cake pan, include a recipe for a delicious cake.

4.      Always include a thank you note and invoice in your package or just write “Thank You” on the invoice that I enclose in the package. Read more »

One Saturday I was at my Flea Market and another vendor said to me that she sold some fabric to someone on eBay and she accidentally sent the wrong fabric to the wrong person.  I was thinking, “Boy, how could someone make that mistake, that is serious” and the next week I sent the wrong item to the wrong person.  I have to say I made that mistake again when I was selling 30-50 books a week on half.com.  I eventually started checking and double checking, I was always very careful but things happen.

In August 2002 I received this message from a buyer

“Hello, I received the Melmac platter from the e-bay auction in the mail today. The plate is lovely except there is about a l” section that was chipped either in shipping or before. I don’t recall this chip being in the item description.” Read more »
